Over the course of 14 months, beginning in September 2009, Ultra-red participated in three different events commemorating the work of the composer Cornelius Cardew (1936-1981). These events form part of a recent surge in Cardew-related events across Europe and the United States. In light of Cardew’s lifetime considerations of the politics of composition, these events demand that we consider what investments drive these inquiries. For Ultra-red, taking up this question takes the form of an evolving plan.
